Painting a Pet Portrait in Oil
In these videos I'll be demonstrating how I painted this white dog pet portrait. I start my pet portraits upside down. Upside down work develops your ability to see only lines and shapes and their relation to each other.
Try this! Even if you aren't an artist but you'd like to be. It is a fun exercise. If you are working with a reference photo try flipping it over and working upside down. You'll be amazed at the result. I learned this method when I learned how to draw from reading Betty Edward's book, Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. Here's an Amazon link to the book or check it out at your local library. Here's a link to ours at MCLS. Good Luck! |
